What to Expect
What to Expect in Worship at NPC . . . .
Our hope in Sunday morning worship is that
worshipers exalt God in all his glory and encounter God’s
irresistible grace, life-changing truth and transforming love in
both practical and transcendent ways.
We come to worship as broken people in a
broken world, humbly recognizing the enormous depth of our sin
and the infinite depth and breadth of God’s mercy and grace to forgive us and make us whole. We
are confronted each week with bad news – the reality of our
sin and separation from God – and encouraged and uplifted by
the good news of Jesus Christ, who reconciles us to God through his
life, death and resurrection.
Because of this great gospel, we seek to
worship in a way that is Christ-centered and gospel-centered. We
seek to accomplish this through reading God’s Word, hearing the gospel preached, reciting liturgical
creeds and confessions, praising and thanking God, giving our tithes
and offerings, breaking bread at The Lord’s Table, singing
hymns ancient and modern, and contemporary worship songs, and experiencing
worship through use of creative, thoughtful décor and visual
media.
We believe that the elements of our worship are biblical and that
the content of our worship reflects sound theological doctrine and
practice based in the Reformed tradition.
We value participation in worship and are always looking for ways
to use the gifts and talents God has given us in worship for His
glory. These include planning and rehearsing for worship, singing,
playing musical instruments and supporting the artistic and technological
aspects of worship.
Our hope is that the entire congregation
participates in worship and is inspired to carry that weekly experience
into their daily lives. We believe that as we draw near to God in worship and
he makes Himself known to us, we will, in turn, share God’s
grace and truth to Dublin and the surrounding community.
What to expect in Sunday School at NPC . . . .
Both Adult and Student Sunday school takes place at NPC at 9 am each
Sunday. For children ages 3-18 there are regular Sunday
School classes that meet according to age/grade level. The teachers
teach the entire school year so the curriculum and teaching is
very consistent. The students are able to build relationships with
their teacher and peers while learning about their lives in a relationship
with Jesus Christ.
For Adults there are a variety of classes offered to grow more in faith
in Jesus Christ. Classes may change each quarter or run the entire year. Visitors
are always welcome to join in the Sunday school program at any time. Look for
specific titles at the Welcome Center.
What to expect for children during worship . . .
Nursery care is provided for all children
birth through 3 years old for the entire morning. Children age
4 through 2nd grade go to worship and are dismissed for Children’s Worship after Prayers
of the People. Children’s Worship is separated by 4 yr.-KG
and 1st & 2nd grade.
