Our
History
In 1989, a small group of Christ-centered believers
began praying for a strong reformed witness in the northwest area of Columbus.
Some of our members had experience with the Presbyterian Church in America
(PCA) and believed that this denomination best shared our principles. The
PCA was approached in early 1991 and responded favorably.
Our theme followed Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to
Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine...",
as we realized the challenges ahead. Despite some obstacles overcome
with a lot of prayer and determination, our small group of believers
ambitiously established an official church starting date of April 12,
1992 – purposely on Palm Sunday. We were amazed but not surprised
by God’s power when a total of 203 people came to that
first service held at a local grade school. Northwest Presbyterian
Church (NPC) was born through God’s incredible grace.
As time passed and we grew larger and stronger as a
congregation, land was acquired to build our own church. Our leaders
felt strongly that the property at the northwest corner of Post and Avery
Roads was the ideal location for our new home. Through the incredible
working of God’s hands, we were able to obtain property and complete
construction of our 30,000 square-foot building at 6400 Post Road in
Dublin, Ohio in time for our first service in July 1998. We feel
that God has truly blessed all of us and today our congregation has continued
to grow in both numbers and in ministry.
